"In My Bed" is a song by English singer-songwriter Amy Winehouse, released on 5 April 2004 as Frank's 3rd single, being a double A-Side alongside "You Sent Me Flying" with its B-Side being an acoustic rendition of "Best Friends". It was written by Winehouse and Salaam Remi and produced by Remi alone.

Background and Composition[]

"In My Bed" was produced by Salaam Remi and released on April 5, 2004. The song tells a story about Winehouse wanting sex from her ex and nothing more. Winehouse said of the song:[1]

"It’s a song about being with someone who you’ve been with who knows you and knows what you like and just about a kind of sadness because it’s not like it was and a kind of happiness because it is. It’s just about that conflicting ex-boyfriend situation."

The song samples the beat of Nas' song "Made You Look", which was also produced by Remi.

Live Performances[]

In the 2015 documentary "Amy", it had shown a rare live performance of "In My Bed". On the deluxe re-issue of Frank, a 2008 performance at the Concorde in Brighton was released.

Music Video[]

The music video for "In My Bed" was directed by Paul Gore. it begins with Winehouse in a hotel leaving a man, presumably her boyfriend, leaving him to his room. As she leaves, Winehouse begins the song as she walks through the hotel. She is then seen in the hotel ballroom for a short segment performing the chorus of the song onstage with a backing band. Winehouse goes upstairs to her own room while carrying a guitar case. Upon entering her room, she takes a seat on her bed and waits as an unidentified man, presumably her ex based on the description of the song by Winehouse, enters the room and they embrace. The video ends with Winehouse covering the camera with her hand as she presumably begins to have sex with him.
